Kind, humble, self-taught, Carley Ochs is the real deal.
I attended a women's luncheon in October 2015 and listened to Carley Ochs, the Owner of Bourbon and Boweties, tell her story and thank her family for their love and support. I admired that she was only one year older than me and that she was obviously humbled that a room full of women wanted to learn how she has built a nationally-recognized brand out of Tampa Bay. She spoke very candidly about the ups and downs of starting a business and the importance of having a tribe to fall back on during hard times. I just knew she would be a great OFWL guest, and I was right. At our luncheon, Carley talked with Brigitte Martinez, Allison Wallrapp, Erin Cassidy, Jennifer Lawson and I about working with family, starting a business, being overwhelmed by momentum, trusting your gut, building a brand with no business plan, and how powerful it is to just "do." Imagine if Carley saw her bracelet making turning into a business and halted the process until she had the next step "figured out." One of my personal mottos is "Less talking, more doing." I left this luncheon inspired to continue to make something of my ideas and turn my dreams into a reality. I encourage you to get out of your comfort zone. Understand that you don't have to have it all figured out - the vision will come. Less talking, more doing. Go "do!"
